Nervous

I was in the kitchen this morning, making breakfast for myself and The Hubster ™ while The Little Empress perched her high chair, craning her neck to look at this and that, babbling happily. It was a picture perfect morning.

The worst thing about having everything you’ve ever wanted is the fear that somehow, it may get taken away from you. And right now, I do have everything I’ve ever truly wanted. Material things don’t matter so much but the ability to stay home with my daughter, as exhausting as it may be sometimes, in our own home is a dream come true.

I get really nervous thinking about the economy. We took a financial hit with us switching who the primary income earner was and it seems that no industry is safe from layoffs. Worrying that the axe may fall when we least expect it makes me sick to my stomach. When times got tough before, we just had ourselves to worry about. Now there’s The Little Empress to think about as well as the house we bought for her to grow up in.

Nothing bad has happened yet and I’m praying that nothing will in the future. I hope and pray that our little family will have many more perfect and not-so-perfect mornings in our home despite the looming clouds of financial recession.
